Introducing Rachel Vizcarra, Occupational Therapist and Alicia Chernik, Speech Language Pathologist.  Both Rachel and Alicia will serve as part of Northern Lights District Supports Team (Inclusive Ed) to assist staff and school teams to develop strategies and action plans to strengthen inclusive practices and better meet the diverse learning needs of all students.  

The Occupational Therapist’s (OT) and the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) roles are to provide direct and indirect support to enable students to be successful in the classroom setting and is responsible for the consultation, assessment and treatment  services required as part of the NLSD Supports Team.  

Rachel, district OT,  is able to  provide intervention strategies (universal, targeted and individualized) and consultation to  improve student performance specifically in the area(s) of fine motor, visual motor, perceptual and sensory integration.

Alicia, district SLP, is able to  provide intervention strategies (universal, targeted and individualized) and consultation to  improve student performance specifically in the area(s) speech, language and other related communication disorders.

Expect to see Rachel and Alicia in your school  providing consultation services for many of our students accessing PUF services in kindergarten and preschool as well as consultation services targeted at grade four to twelve.
