Language Programs

Would you like your child to learn a second language?  Give them expanded learning opportunities?  Challenge them in a new way?

The following schools offer Alternative Language Programs

• Ecole Plamondon School - French Immersion (Kindergarten to Grade 5) and Russian
• North Star Elementary School - French Immersion Kindergarten to Grade 3
• Cold Lake Middle School - French Immersion is available to students in Grades 4 through 8 which includes a late entry program for students in Grades 5 through 8.

Bonnyville doesn’t currently have a French Immersion Program but we do offer some 2nd language options for the area:

• H.E. Bourgoin Middle School has French and Ukrainian Culture Language Academics Options for Grades 5-8, HEB also has an exploratory introduction Spanish Class for Grades 5 & 6.
• Bonnyville Centralized High School also has French as a 2^nd language option.  

The best time to learn a second language is when they are young – start them in Kindergarten or Grade One.

The program is fabulous and you will hear him or her speaking and reading in no time! And, as parents, you don’t have to speak French – just encourage and support your child.  We also have experienced teachers and great support for students.

Bussing is free for French Immersion students from Cold Lake North and 4-Wing.

Call North Star Elementary at 780-594-3232 to register in Kindergarten or Grade 1 Register early! Transfers are welcome.  Also contact Cold Lake Middle School 780-594-201-3675 and École Plamondon Scholl 780-798-3840.  For French options in Bonnyville contact Division Office at 780-826-3145.
