Awards and Scholarships

XEROX Legacy Scholarships for Distinguished Service

Xerox is providing $1000 for scholarships to be distributed across the Division. Five $100 scholarships will be given to students attending university and Five $100 scholarships will be distributed to students in the Rap program. The scholarships will be awarded in the names of the Division Staff who have been recognized for their contributions. These staff recognition awards will be announced at the yearly System Focus Day. Award recipients are nominated by local high schools.

Northern Lights School Division - Student Awards and Scholarships

Students successfully completing high school Provincial Diploma Examination courses and Math 31 with blended marks of 80% to 84% on their first writing will receive $50.00 per course from the Board.

Northern Lights School Division - Student Awards and Scholarships

Students successfully completing high school Provincial Diploma Examination courses and Math 31 with blended marks of 85% to 99% on their first writing will receive $100.00 per course from the Board.

Northern Lights School Division - Student Awards and Scholarships

Students successfully completing high school Provincial Diploma Examination courses with an examination mark of 100% on their first PDE writing will receive $1000.00 per course from the Board.

Walter Hayduk Memorial Scholarship

Students must be attending the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta or a recognized transfer program to the institution. Download Application Form

Maegan Janz Ladies Basketball Scholarship

The Maegan Janz Ladies Basketball Scholarship is established in loving memory of Maegan Janz and her passion for basketball.  Maegan attended Glendon School, played basketball both at the Junior and Senior High levels and continued to be involved with the basketball program at Glendon even after she graduated. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a Glendon High School Graduate, enrolled in any Canadian post secondary institution to attend studies and compete in basektball at a post-secondary level.  Download Details and Application Form.

Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship for Colleges (GWMSC)

The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, and principal sponsor The W. Garfield Weston Foundation is offering $1000 to each secondary school that produces a Garfield Weston Merit Scholarship for Colleges National Award recipient for the current academic year. The program is designed to identify, recognize and reward students who demonstrate character, leadership and commitment to their community. Northern Alberta Development Council Bursaries - is given to approximately 100 students who are within two years of graduating from a college or university program. It requires a committment from students to work in northern Alberta in their field of study.  More information is available at the NADC website at www.gov.ab.ca/nadc

Aboriginal Achievement Scholarship - is designed to encourage and assist Aboriginal youth to pursue post-secondary studies with the ultimate objective of obtaining a university degree, a college diploma, or a certificate from a technical institute. Eligibility details and Application Form
